This may have been a somewhat unique situation, but I was thinking about stories that you would tell about being on the Justice League set, in a hotel room in London, and you're by yourself, miserable, drinking—

Quite a bit.

Exactly. And it would be understandable if you were like, yeah, "I'm never doing that again."

There are a number of reasons why that was a really excruciating experience. And they don't all have to do with the simple dynamic of, say, being in a superhero movie or whatever. I am not interested in going down that particular genre again, not because of that bad experience, but just: I've lost interest in what was of interest about it to me. But I certainly wouldn't want to replicate an experience like that. A lot of it was misalignment of agendas, understandings, expectations. And also by the way, I wasn't bringing anything particularly wonderful to that equation at the time, either. I had my own failings, significant failings, in that process and at that time.

Failings as an actor or a person?

I mean, my failings as an actor, you can watch the various movies and judge. But more of my failings of, in terms of why I had a bad experience, part of it is that what I was bringing to work every day was a lot of unhappiness. So I wasn't bringing a lot of positive energy to the equation. I didn't cause problems, but I came in and I did my job and I went home. But you've got to do a little bit better than that. Anyway, the point is, this work, this job is actually a way of trying to avoid that situation. I want to put together partnerships and filmmakers and cast and a studio apparatus that's aligned, where precisely that kind of misalignment doesn't happen and you have a much better work experience.

Do you have a coherent thought or postmortem on your time with the Batman character?

I had a really good time. I loved doing the Batman movie. I loved Batman v Superman. And I liked my brief stints on The Flash that I did and when I got to work with Viola Davis on Suicide Squad for a day or two. In terms of creatively, I really think that I like the idea and the ambition that I had for it, which was of the sort of older, broken, damaged Bruce Wayne. And it was something we really went for in the first movie.

But what happened was it started to skew too old for a big part of the audience. Like even my own son at the time was too scared to watch the movie. And so when I saw that I was like, "Oh shit, we have a problem." Then I think that's when you had a filmmaker that wanted to continue down that road and a studio that wanted to recapture all the younger audience at cross purposes. Then you have two entities, two people really wanting to do something different and that is a really bad recipe.

Donc on insiste à fond sur les aspects comique/lourdingue et kitsch avec Krypto (c'est Krypto, le vrai titre du film ??) et les  robots.

La musique qui ne sait rien d'autre que copier que Williams.

Déjà que je voulais pas le voir. Maintenant, je vais pas le sur-voir

Moi j'apprécie que le film tente une approche nouvelle, je suis pas forcément le public, mais c'est frais.

En tout cas le fait de sortir cinq minute du film comme ça (attachées en plus à Minecraft aux USA), avant même un second trailer montre vraiment à quel point WBD est fébrile sur le film. Forcément : l'avenir du studio dépend sans doute de son succès.

Mais bon en décidant de le sortir en salle une semaine après le nouveau Jurassic World, difficile de ne pas penser qu'ils l'envoient à l'abattoir. (Ce qui ne serait pas la première fois pour WBD)   

En tout cas les robots sont bien ridicules...

Adopter le ton de GotG sur Superman, je suis pas sûr que j'appellerais ça une "nouvelle approche".

Man of Steel en faisant un vrai drama de SF de Super Héros, ça c'était une nouvelle approche osée.

La faute aux emplois du temps qui ne s'alignent pas et n'aurait pas permis un tournage cet été comme prévu.

D'autres sources disent que le film est seulement "retardé" et pourrait se tourner à l'été 2026... mais bon beaucoup de choses pourrait changer d'ici là et le réalisateur prévu à un planning très chargé.

C'était quoi l'intérêt de ce personnage sérieux ? 

J'étais au courant de rien et en voyant sa fiche wikipédia aucun intérêt...

Gunn a juste une mega fascination pour les underdog et les personnages peu connus (même le casting de son Suicide Squad le démontrait bien).

Et en vrai il est tout à fait adapté à ce genre de personnages (sans doute plus qu'à Superman) et sait en tirer le  meilleur.

Le soucis c'est qu'il semble avoir du mal à saisir que c'est pas foncièrement vendeur

Et y a 2 guest stars au début, si vous avez pas fait gaffe.

Le "réalisateur de Superman" dans les accroches alors que le film est pas encore sorti....

Y a bien Chabat qui fait doubler les persos de son Asterix par tous ses potes de manière affreuse, et personne ne dit rien... alors un seul rôle...
